Juniors
With the growing concern with teenage road accidents. The Waiuku DTC has introduced a class of racing at their track events to
allow teenagers between the age of 13 to 17 participate. This class has been running for the past8 years and is growing rapidly.
Juniors must have a club driver in the passenger seat while they are racing. Most of the juniors are presently at College or High
School. The Club feels that this is a positive way to teach teenagers about car maintenance car construction safety and how to
control a vehicle allowing them a place to develop good skills for use on public roads. This class is a positive way with the help of
Police,
Council and other community groups to assist with the growing problem of young street racers.
The purpose of the Club:
To promote car racing in a safe and controlled environment
To promote a healthy respect for motor vehicles
To educate members and the public in good safe driving behaviour
To educate members in car construction and maintenance
To provide family entertainment
To promote Junior racing for teenagers in a controlled environment where they are able to express themselves freely without
fear of harming themselves or others
